DREAM COME TRUE

Hello All,

I apologize for not having posted anything for a very long time. It's been a year since I last performed live, although it seems like a lifetime. I have taken this time off to support my husband (who is an engineer) with his new venture. I also wanted to spend some time with my son who is now in high school.

I don't know if most of you know this but singing and writing songs is something I began only 5 years ago! My first live show ever was Sept 2005 and at that time I was still learning how to sing!! I have no doubt that the audience was well aware of that :) I had a dream which began with me wanting to understand how to sing. I had absolutely NO musical background except for the fact that I was a pro ballet dancer at one time. One day a song came to me and I hurried home to hum the tune to my husband (who is a musician as well) and that song eventually became "Alone" one of 10 songs on my first album "Alive". Over the past 5 years I have performed at numerous Ontario venues & festivals, I have been on a radio tour across Canada, I have written and recorded 2 albums, I have had the opportunity of working with some amazing musicians, producers, music engineers and the list goes on. All this has MORE than exceeded a middle aged (not THAT middle aged) womans dreams. Whether or not this is the end of my musical journey is yet unknown. All that I know is that the music "world" takes a lot of money when you're pursuing it independently. At this point in my life I am satisfied & proud of my great achievements and I say that with humility. It is now time to focus on my son and my family and if my husbands new venture brings us in enough cash to finance another album, I'll be there in a heart beat! I have dozens of songs waiting to be heard....Until that time, I thank all the people who have supported my dream, for without dreams we are not alive inside. I thank my husband Jeff who co-wrote all the songs with me, encouraged me and supported me and who is the best singer I have ever heard!!

I see life as a journey of discovering as much as we can about ourselves & others around us. It is an opportunity to learn lessons, to try new things and to hopefully better ourselves in the long run. I have enjoyed this musical journey and I hope you have enjoyed my music.

Be well and follow your dreams no matter how big!

Love, peace and light,

Oh What A Year!

Hey All,
For those of you who are visiting my blog for the first time, welcome!! From this point on I will be writing about my life as well as my music. I have been taking time to enjoy life lately and learn about nutrition, alternative medicine and other important issues which I will get into in future blogs.
For now, I would like to look back on what a wonderful year I had in 2009. Musically, I released my second album "Heart & Soul" where I tried my hand at alt country/country. My husband and I went on a radio tour across Canada where I did several live radio interviews. From that tour, two of my songs were played on Country radio stations across Canada. My song Addicted 2U brought me to #10 Canadian Country Female on the Trax Report. I also had the opporunity of opening for the Wilkinsons at the Sound of Music Festival in Burlington as well as Murray M. at the Oakville Waterfront festival. Along with my husband, we also performed our songs as part of the Nashville Songwriters Association, Tin Pan North. I had the opportunity of co-writing with two great Canadian songwriters, with Steve Fox I wrote "Gasoline" and with Larry Wayne Clark, I wrote "Anything For You" in Nashville (yet to be recorded). While in Nashville I met Vince Gill and saw him perform my FAVORITE song "What You Give Away". Finishing the year off, my album was nominated for Best Country Recording at the Hamilton Music Awards in December! Phew...In 2010 I was also featured on the CCMA page in the "On The Horizon" section.
It really was a great year! I have to say that as much as I love country music, I'm not sure that my writing style lends to "traditional" country. My style sits more in the "alt country" genre however some of my songs are more pop, some rock, some bluesy...I guess that's what being an independent artist is all about. I am still thinking over my next album and saving up money. If you like what you hear, please consider purchasing my EP on my official website www.anniemarleau.com to help fund my next album. Also, check out some of my old tunes from my first album "Alive" on my myspace page www.myspace.com/anniemarleau.
Until the next time, be safe, be kind and be true to YOU!
Love, peace and light,

Oops where ever did the time go?

So here we are a month and a half since my last blog oops! I've been very busy since then and I will attempt to tell you why. First of all, here is the photo that I promised of me at a Halloween party. No that's not me in the Gene Simmons get-up ha! That's my friend and producer Carl Jennings. If you haven't guess by now, I'm the one in the black wig. Yes I was a flapper! Who is the King you ask? He is none other than my husband and co-writer Jeff! He wanted to be a King for Halloween because every other day of the year I am the Queen!

Here's is what I've been up to....I was in the studio a lot putting the finishing touches on the songs for my upcoming EP "Heart & Soul" and preparing for the radio release of my single "Addicted 2U". Fot over a week and a half, I travelled out west B.C., Alberta, Saskatoon and Manitoba promoting my single and doing radio interviews. As of last week, there are 11 stations playing my song and I'm hoping for more adds this week. I have posted a few photos from my trip up above.

If I don't have a chance to come back before Christmas yes I said Christmas! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May 2009 a great year for all.

Love, light and peace always,

Happy Halloween!

Another year gone by and here we are again on Halloween! Where does the time go? Am I the only one who feels life is whipping by and I have so much I want to do and so many people I'd like to get to know...Which reminds me, the more I listen to Alanis Morissette's song "Incomplete" the more it makes sense. If everyone saw their lives as forever "Incomplete" then they wouldn't be in such a panic to get to the finish line. Think about it :)

Since I last blogged, I've been a very busy girl ok woman who am I kidding? On Oct. 22 I believe, I went to see the Who perform in Hamilton. Simon Townsend accompanied his brother once again as well as Zack Starkey (Ringo Starr's son) who was on drums. It was a fantastic show!

I've been working away at completing my 5 song EP Heart and Soul and have been lucky enough to have Richard Dodd who mixed the Dixie Chicks' last album, help me find someone whithin my budget to mix my songs.

Tonight I'll be dressing up for Halloween which I haven't done in a long time! I won't tell you what I'm going to be until I post a photo tomorrow or in the next few days. Until then ta ta!

Things are coming together

Hello Folks,

I'm so excited to let you all know that my 5 song EP "Heart and Soul" is coming along very well. As we speak, my website is being re-designed and I now have my own logo, which you will see when the site is complete. I've also hired a publicist which I'm thrilled about. If you would like to hear the "rough mixes" of 3 of my songs, please visit www.iacmusic.com/anniemarleau.

Tonight I'm off to the Ontario Independent Music Awards at the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto where I've been nominated for an award. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the winners from last year perform as well.

Until next time, be safe and be kind!

Annie:)

Oh Look another beautiful day!!

Hello fellow bloggers (ie: Rance :) ) and anyone who reads this!
It's a beautiful sunny day today and I thank God for another day of good health and happiness. Today Matthew and I will be exploring some country fairs around our region. I'm not sure where I'm going yet but I have a few ideas. I love this time of year when all the leaves turn such beautiful and vibrant colors!

Yesterday I was fiddling around on my guitar and came up with a new song! My EP's not out yet but I'm already planning for my third album and this one will be full-length. I've really enjoyed recording this self-titled EP at Westmoreland Recording with Carl. He is very passionate about music and has brought in some of the most talented yet humble musicians around.

I have to run for now...If you're reading this and want to continue reading my blogs please consider joining as one of my readers. Eventually I will be making this for members only!

Until next time, I will leave you with some of my new favorite songs, please check them out!

"Let it Go" by Tim McGraw and "The Story" by Brandi Carlile, I have this song as my ringtone!

May love and light fill your day,
Annie xoxox

2 Days in a ROW!

It's a beautiful sunny day today and I'm doing my vocal warm-up for my recording session later today. If all goes well, my vocals will be done today and we can begin the process of mixing! I already have many ideas for my 3rd album!
Here are a few updates from the past 6 months or so......Since my blog in Feb. my dog Rufus passed away of cancer :( We really loved him and miss him very much...We do have a new addition to the family and her name is Beanie (short for Ebony). I will take a photo of her as soon as we bring her to the groomers and will post it!

More news: In August we (Jeff my husband and Carl my producer and I) performed at the Freeway Cafe in Hamilton and my son videotaped the show! Some of the shots are a little shaky but he wasn't always using a tripod. I'll post a song from my first album "Sensitive" for your enjoyment. Until next time, remember to be kind to one another.

Peace and love,
Annie
